This five-storey and one-basement reinforced concrete building has a total area of 2,040 square metres. During the initial stage of excavation, it was discovered that the adjacent building had an inadequate foundation system to support itself if excavation were to commence further. The project team then opted to brace the adjacent building’s underground columns using structural steel in order to strengthen the structural integrity of the building before further excavation could continue.
